Responsible play

The controls FLIP gives you over paid play, and where to find help if you need it.

Last updated 27 August 2026

How prizes are funded

Every player in a contest pays the same entry fee. FLIP retains 5% of the total, and the rest is the winner’s prize, the figure shown on a game before you enter.

A contest that cannot be completed is voided and every entry fee is returned in full, with nothing retained.

We state the cut here, once, in plain words, rather than beside a prize. What you pay to enter and what winning is worth are both on the screen, and the difference between them is ours.

Deposit limits

You can cap how much you are able to add over a day, a week or a month, from the responsible play screen in the app.

Lowering a limit takes effect immediately. Raising one takes 24 hours, long enough that the decision is not made in the moment it is wanted.

Session reminders

A quiet nudge, once an hour, showing how long you have been playing. It is on by default and you can turn it off.

Taking a break

You can pause paid contests on your account for 30 days.

Free play is unaffected. The games still work, and your friends are still there. The pause cannot be lifted early, which is the whole point of it.

Signs worth noticing

Play stops being a game when it stops being a choice. Some things worth being honest with yourself about:

  • Playing to win back what you lost, rather than because you wanted to play.
  • Entering contests you could not comfortably afford to lose.
  • Playing for longer than you meant to, more often than you meant to.
  • Hiding how much you play, or how much you have spent, from people close to you.
  • Feeling anxious or low when you are not playing.

Where to get help

These organisations are independent of FLIP. They are free, confidential, and they will not tell you off.

  • National Gambling Helpline (UK): 0808 8020 133, free, 24 hours a day.
  • GamCare, gamcare.org.uk: advice, counselling and support groups.
  • BeGambleAware, begambleaware.org: information and a self-assessment.
  • Gamblers Anonymous, gamblersanonymous.org.uk: peer support meetings.
  • GAMSTOP, gamstop.co.uk: free self-exclusion across UK-licensed gambling sites.
  • Outside the UK, your national health service or a local support line will be able to point you somewhere closer.

Age

Paid contests are limited to verified adults aged 18 or over. Free play has no age restriction beyond our terms, but FLIP is not designed for children and we close accounts we find belong to one.
